Real estate developers, architects, and homeowners in Kenya are being urged to factor in home security at the design stage rather than treating it as an add-on after construction.

The call was made during an art and home security exhibition themed “The Future of Home Security Solutions”, hosted in partnership with Elements Luxury Living. The event showcased how safety, innovation, and design can work hand in hand to create homes that are not only beautiful but also secure and efficient.

Drawing a select audience of industry professionals, property developers, and homeowners, the event explored the rising importance of intelligent, tech-driven safety solutions in Kenya’s property market. With security remaining a top concern for homebuyers and tenants alike, integrating these systems early in the design phase is increasingly being viewed as a key selling point.

During the exhibition, SGA Security demonstrated system designed to provide round-the-clock protection while enhancing both the safety and value of modern properties.

“Nine times out of ten when someone is building or moving into a home, they think about everything else but the security inside the house,” said Jackson Mbuthia, Chief Commercial Officer at SGA Security. “Security should never be an afterthought; it should be built into the DNA of every home. As we design the homes of tomorrow, we must think about how safety, comfort, and technology can coexist.”

The collaboration with Elements Luxury Living, a brand known for its refined aesthetic and contemporary interiors, provided the ideal setting to illustrate how modern design and safety systems can seamlessly blend. The setup demonstrated that homeowners don’t have to choose between style and security — both can exist in harmony through thoughtful planning and smart technology.

Experts at the event also highlighted the growing shift toward wireless security systems, which offer greater flexibility, ease of installation, and cost efficiency compared to traditional wired setups. This evolution, they said, reflects a broader trend in the real estate sector where smart home features and energy-efficient designs are becoming must-haves for today’s buyers.

More than just an exhibition, The Future of Home Security Solutions sparked a meaningful conversation about how technology and design can redefine the way we live. For Kenya’s rapidly expanding property market, the message was clear: developers who integrate security early not only protect their clients but also create homes that are future-ready and more valuable.

As urbanization accelerates and the demand for smarter, safer living grows, the real estate industry’s next big frontier may well lie at the intersection of design, technology, and peace of mind.
